Bathing can be an important part of one's daily routine that
provides therapeutic effects for both the body and mind. Relaxing in a
bath in the morning can open pores, relax the mind and soothe aching
muscles, making it a perfect way to begin the day. The routine is the
perfect way to infuse the body with all natural remedies.
The
benefits of therapeutic bathing have been known and in use for many
years. Archeologists have found large bathing structures in many
villages as well as private homes equipped with private baths and a
complex drainage system.
In Greece water was seen as a gift of
health from the gods and visitors can still see the ruins of sunken
baths in Pompeii. When visiting the bath of Napoleon's wife, visitors
continue to this day to smell her signature fragrance of musk.
Bath
water can be enhanced by many different elements. The ancient texts
speak of turmeric, rose petals, milk and honey. The process was said to
restore balance to the body, mind and spirit using these natural
remedies. As such, the therapeutic bath is said to increase energy,
enhance clarity of thought, cleanse dirt, sweat and environmental toxins
from the skin and help the mind to relax.
Many people have found
natural remedies as a part of the bath time to be beneficial. Ayurveda
Physicians offer some advice that is often helpful in the routine that
followers want to repeat often.
Begin with a full body massage
using Pitta Massage oil, Vata Massage oil or Kapha Massage oil. Use a
few drops of the oil warmed by rubbing the palms together to massage the
body using gentle even strokes. The tub should be filled with water
that is neither too hot nor too cold. Use a cotton washcloth to apply
the designated cleanser to the skin and leave in place for three minutes
before rinsing. Do not use the cleanser in the hair and use it one to
two times daily.
Avoid bathing when feeling stressed or rushed.
You need to be able to take the time to enjoy the experience and
practice deep breathing. Relaxing in the tub allows both the spirit and
mind to benefit along with the body. In addition, avoid use of harsh or
synthetic fragrances in the area. Choose instead incense or aromatherapy
candles to infuse scent into the room.
After completing the bath,
use a soft cotton towel that has been gently warmed to dry the body and
complete the experience with a spritz of Organic Rose Water to the
body.
History, through literature and archeology has shown that
people have used herbal skin remedies and natural remedies for many
years to improve their overall health aspects, restoring balance to
their bodies, as well as mind and spirit. Today, bathers can use these
same natural remedies to discover the benefits of those same Ayurvedic
remedies for themselves.
