Awareness about pancreatic cancer has increased with the recent
deaths of some prominent individuals like Steve Jobs, for example. It
certainly is one of more lethal types of cancers because 95% of people
who are diagnosed with it never survive. It generally never presents
symptoms, which makes it even more challenging. According to the
American Cancer Society, about 44,030 people will be diagnosed with the
disease this year.
Endocrine and exocrine tumors are the two types
of pancreatic cancer. The majority of pancreatic cancer patients are
diagnosed with the exocrine tumors. Exocrine tumors usually begin in the
ducts of the pancreas. These tumors can be very aggressive if
undetected but can be successfully treated if caught early enough.
Some
of the major pharmaceutical companies are coming out with some new
drugs that will help suppress blood supply and metabolize the cells of
the tumor. What is shocking is that these products cause some very
serious side effects. For example, they cause respiratory problems,
kidney failure, and infection, all which may lead to death. How could
the Food and Drug Administration even recommend these to consumers? It
is shocking to see what is approved these days. These drugs cure one
thing only to cause trauma in another area of the body.
There
certainly are less evasive ways to fight cancer than having to rely on
harsh pharmaceutical drugs. First and foremost a positive attitude is a
must. Recently, I was reading an interesting study that dealt with
variables that can cause cancer. Dr. Kenneth R. Pelletier of the
University of California School of Medicine stated: "Numerous animal
and experimental studies have demonstrated that stress,
psychological depression, and other pshuman ychosocial factors compromise an
organism's capacity to prevent the induction of disease such as cancer
or limit its spread." So lowering stress and maintaining a positive attitude can help in the fight against cancer. Don't give up! Fight!
Additionally,
there is a natural way to fight cancer. One remedy is the easiest to
achieve because it happens right inside the human body. Of the 20 amino
acids found there, the most elusive is cysteine. When it is ingested and
it bonds with two other amino acids, glutamate and glycine, (readily
available in most foods) the body produces an antioxidant called
glutathione. Glutathione, when prevalent in the body system, increases
the strength of immune system. What does your immune system do for you?
Of course, it fights disease. And since cancer is a disease, having a
high level of glutathione will destroy cancer cells. There are research
studies that have proved this.
How can you make cysteine a part of
your diet since it is not a part of the North American diet? Well, you
can't take cysteine in tablet form because most if not all are not
formulated to survive the stomach's acid. It will be destroyed,
disallowing the intestines to absorb the cysteine into the blood stream.
